Etawah BSA yet to wipe out elephant pics from school walls: Congress

AGRA: Congress leaders from Etawah on Saturday evening lodged a complaint with the chief election officer ( CEO ) regarding display of paintings of “elephants”, the BSP symbol, on the walls of primary schools run under basic shiksha adhikari ( BSA ) in the district and pointed out that it was a violation of the model code of conduct.

Earlier, in a similar complaint, Congress had alleged that BJP’s election symbol, the “lotus” was on display on the walls of a large number of schools. Congress leaders alleged that despite their complaint and subsequent orders by the additional election officer directing the BSA to remove the paintings within 24 hours, nothing had been done over the past three days.

In his latest complaint, district Congress unit president Uday Bhan Singh said though SP-BSP combine has declared its candidate, the “elephant” symbol has not been removed. He said the election officer is yet to take action against the BSA, who is responsible for violating the model code of conduct by failing to wipe out the elephant paintings.

When contacted, additional district magistrate (ADM) Gyanprakash Srivastava, who is also additional election officer, said he had not received any complaint in this regard so far, but would check. He said, if true, he would ask the official concerned to remove the violators of poll code with immediate effect.
