Karnal: EVMs collected from 1,142 polling stations in Karnal district have been kept under tight security in strongrooms.
Counting of votes will start at 8am on Thursday. The whole process of counting will be held under CCTV cameras.
Counting for Karnal assembly segment will be held at DAV Postgraduate College. For Nilokehri constituency, it will take place at Dayal Singh College. Votes of the Indri segment will be counted at DAV Senior Secondary School and those of Assandh segment will be counted at SBS Senior Secondary School. Counting of Gharaunda segment will be held at Karan Stadium.
The district administration has started preparations for smooth counting of votes for all five constituencies of Karnal. Deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Vinay Pratap Singh held a meeting with officials on Tuesday. The final computerized randomization of counting staff was done in a meeting in the presence of candidates and their representatives on Tuesday.
Karnal district registered 63.84% voter turnout on Monday. Karnal assembly witnessed the lowest turnout in the district at 52.29%. Indri registered the highest polling at 72.3%, followed by Assandh (67%), Gharaunda (66.62%) and Nilokheri (62.85%).
