EXCLUSIVE: Bend It Like Beckham actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers to come to India; Here's Why

Remember Gurinder Chadha’s 2002 comedy-drama Bend It Like Beckham? The movie was about David Beckham’s popularity among youngsters and revolved around a girl who dreams to be like the football star. While the move became a rage among millennials back then, it also gave us a nation crush Jonathan Rhys Meyers who played the role of Coach Joe in the movie.

Ever since the British comedy was released in India, the audience was in awe of Jonathan’s cuteness.

And while Jonathan enjoys a huge fan following in India, here’s a piece of big news for his fans exclusively from Pinkvilla. The handsome hunk is coming to Indian this month. Jonathan will be attending the 50th Edition of the International Film Festival of India. The film festival will be hosting a galaxy of national and international film personalities. He will be attending the opening ceremony of the prestigious event with Wagner Moura who had won has won a lot of appreciation with his performance as Pablo Escobar in Narcos. Interestingly, Jonathan will also be a part of an in conversation with Wagner Moura in a session called The Magnificent Artist on November 26 wherein the actors will be talking about their respective journeys.

Talking about Jonathan, the Irish born actor has carved a niche for himself with his versatility. Apart from winning hearts as Joe in Bend It Like Beckham, he has also received a lot of appreciation for his performances in Mission Impossible III (2006), Damascus Cover (2017), The Aspern Papers (2018). In fact, The Aspern Papers was also showcased at IFFI 2018.

On the other hand, his historical portrayal of Henry VIII in The Tudors series earned him a Golden Globe nomination for the Best Actor in a Television Drama in the year 2007.

Moving on to the International Film Festival of India, the golden jubilee edition of the prestigious event will witness over 200 films from 76 countries. The festival will take place from November 20 to November 28 in Panjim, Goa.
