Family of Gadchiroli cop receives Rs30 lakh aid

Nagpur: Priti Yelore, widow of the late constable Kewalram, was handed over a cheque of Rs30 lakh through the joint initiative of Axis Bank and Gadchiroli police this week. Kewalram, posted at Armori police station, was killed after a speeding vehicle hit him at a nakabandi (check point) on March 17 this year.

SP Shailesh Balkawade took special initiative to ensure the nearest kin of Kewalram, who had died on duty, received the monetary assistance in his salary account at the earliest.

It was after his relentless efforts the cheque was issued.

Armori is one of the entry points of the district where checking is conducted rigorously by the cops of the Maoist-affected district. Checking is also done to stop illegal ferrying of liquor in the dry district of Chandrapur.

Axis bank’s Nagpur circle head Shrusti Nanda, Nagpur head Shailesh Deshmukh, Gadchiroli branch manager Abhijeet Dabir and others were present when the cheque was handed over to Priti Yelore at the office of SP Balkawade. Apart from Balkawade, additional SP, administration, Mohit Kumar Garg too was present.

It is learnt, Balkawade has assured Yelore of every help she and her family would require for clearance of dues and other documentation works. He also expressed his gratitude to the bank officials for expediting the process.
