Get, set, golf
When we caught up with some of the participants yesterday, they seemed visibly excited. Asha Sehgal, an octogenarian from Delhi Golf Club, said that she is a “golf addict” and that she never “misses a game”.
Shubhra Mishra, who hails from Bhuvaneshwar, added, “As long as we are in the golf course surrounded by greenery, I feel at home and forget that I am in some other city.”

The air quality on Wednesday in Noida remained in the hazardous category and some golfers were seen wearing masks. Rakshita Singh, one of the younger players at the game, was one of them. “I have been wearing a mask whenever I am outdoors in the city, so it’s not just for the game. I have developed a habit of wearing masks. Though we are amidst lush green trees, I feel that I can breathe better with the mask than without it,” said Rakshita, a member of Army Environmental Park & Training Area (AEPTA) Club.

‘Noida Golf Course is one of my favourites in the country’
The players got talking about what brings them to NGC and many from other cities claimed that it is one of their favourite grounds. “I love to come to NGC and don’t mind travelling here from Chandigarh because this place has great fairways and fast putting greens. I like to believe that after my hometown, this is my favourite place for a good game,” said Shalini Sheoran, an amateur golfer from Panchkula.
It’s not just the infrastructure but the participants also praised the NGC Ladies Club. “The NGC Ladies Club is one of the most hospitable clubs and it is always a delight playing with them at their home course,” said Gauri Monga from Delhi Golf Club.
