Fill lakes in Mandya, demand farmers

Mandya: Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) activists on Wednesday demanded that the district administration fill the lakes in the district and supply standing sugarcane crop to sugar factories.

Submitting a memorandum to DC M V Venkatesh, KRRS district president Shambhunalli Suresh said as Mysugar in Mandya and PSSK factory in Pandavapura are yet to start crushing of sugarcane, the district administration should support the farmers in harvesting and providing the produce to other factories.

“We have appealed to the deputy commissioner to hold a meeting with officers from sugar factories, agriculture department, banks and revenue department to solve the problems faced by farmers,” he said. The farmers also demanded that the DC must take necessary action to stop illegal mining near KRS .
