Reports also suggest that director Jeethu Joseph, of Drishyam fame, has been planning a crime thriller also featuring Mohanlal and might rework the script to adapt the murder case for the plot. Filmmaker Arun T Mohan has expressed interest in making a movie based on the Koodathayi murders, but is reconsidering his decision seeing that several films on the subject have already been planned. Malayalam star Mammootty's CBI crime series, which is set to hit theatres soon, also allegedly has a plot similar to the Koodathayi case.
