Finance company cashier robbed, shot dead in Agra

AGRA: An employee of finance company was shot dead before being robbed by unknown assailants in Agra on Tuesday evening.



The incident took place along the Mangarol-Runkata stretch under Sikandra police station. The victim was identified as Rupendra Kumar (30), resident of Jajau. According to police, Kumar was shot in his chest.

“Victim was found lying dead in a pool of blood by local residents, who alerted police. His body has been sent for autopsy. We’re yet to ascertain exactly what amount was robbed from him,” said SP (city) Prashant Verma.

Rupendra was working for a finance company with office in Sanjay Place . Police is waiting for a written complaint from the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, police sources claimed the victim’s colleagues and friends are being contacted and questioned for possible clues about the suspects. “After collecting nearly Rs 1 lakh in cash, victim was heading back to his office. It seems someone had either done recce of his movements, or knew he would be carrying cash, and shot him dead to steal the amount. A tablet belonging to the company that he was carrying was also missing. A surveillance team is working with local police to trace the digital signature of the robbed gadgets, to pin-point the location of the assailants,” said a source.
