FIR against BJP candidate in Sidhi

BHOPAL: An FIR was registered against BJP candidate from Sidhi , Riti Pathak , for poll code violation on Tuesday. On April 29 when polling was underway in Sidhi parliamentary constituency, Pathak had visited the Koshta polling booth along with supporters and alleged that the booth had been captured by the supporters of Congress candidate Ajay Singh.

Subsequently Pathak lodged a complaint with the EC, but she flouted the rule by entering the polling booth and using her mobile phone there. Thereafter a complaint was filed against her. The office of state chief electoral officer sought a report from the district collector regarding both the complaints.

“The collector, in his report, informed that a case was registered against Pathak for model code of conduct violation,” state chief electoral officer VL Kantha Rao said.

Sources said that Pathak was booked under section 131 of RP Act (penalty for disorderly conduct near polling station) and section 188 of Indian Penal Code (disobedience of order duly promulgated by a public servant).
