First phase of TOSC conducted at IIT-Kanpur

Kanpur: The first phase of Techkriti Open School Championship (TOSC) - a part of the IIT- Kanpur’s annual technical event-Techkriti, was conducted across 20 cities including Kanpur on Sunday. Over 1,600 students appeared for TOSC at IIT-K.

The 90-minute exam tested innovative and pragmatic approach of the students while solving real-life problems.

The result will be announced in first week of November.

The championship consisted of two phases in which the students were required to form a team. Each team had two members.

The students were divided into two pools- A and B. Pool A had students of classes 9 and 10 and Pool B had students of classes 11 and 12.

The first phase of this examination was successfully conducted in Kanpur at IIT-Kanpur. A total 8,000 students had registered all over India and appeared for the chapionship at 25 centres. Around 2,000 students of classes 9 to 12 wrote the exam at the Kanpur centre.

The students gathered at the examination centre around 9:00 am and after getting their admit cards checked, were directed to take a seat in their allocated room. The examination began at 10 am sharp.

The top performers of TOSC will be rewarded with valuable prizes including a lifetime opportunity of a guided tour of ISRO, India’s top space research institution. The top 50 teams qualifying for the first phase from each pool will be called to IIT-Kanpur to compete for the top spots.

In addition, they will also get a chance to attend several talks, events and workshops by prominent personalities in the field of science and technology at the institute. Besides, first position holders would get Kindles, runner ups will get smartwatches and backpacks will be awarded to second runner-ups.

Apart from this the top three teams will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals while trophies will be given to top 10 teams from each pool. City toppers will get gold medals and an E-certificate for participation will be given to all participants. Rank certificate will be given to top 250 teams from each pool. Best School award will be presented to the school having the maximum participants.
