Five killed in road accident on Agra-Hathras state highway

AGRA: In a head-on collision between hatchback and heavy unknown vehicle, 5 including a newly born was killed in a road accident on Agra-Hathras state highway .

The accident took place around 4am near Pilipokhar of Khandauli police jurisdiction in Agra district. The victims were taking a pregnant woman to Agra-based hospital for her delivery. In the accident, pregnant woman sustained grievous injury and survived, but she lost her baby in womb.

Deceased victims were identified as Rupesh , Amit , Vidyavati and Meera , while injured pregnant woman was identified as Seema, wife of Rupesh. She gave birth to a still born baby due to road accident impact.

Speaking to TOI, Vijay Kumar Singh, station house officer of Khandauli said, “The victims hailed from Vsabar village of Sadabad police jurisdiction of Hathras district . When police team reached the accident spot, there was only mangled car and unconscious bodies trapped inside it. The other vehicle with whom the head-on-collision occurred was missing from the spot.”

“It seems that car and the other unknown vehicle were in high speed, as the collision impact crushed the hatchback to piece of metal junk. Our team is searching for the other vehicle involved in the accident,” he added.

By the time this report was filed, FIR was yet to be lodged.
