Five killed, three hurt in mishap near Jaisalmer

JAISALMER: Five persons, including one woman, were killed and three others were injured when a car collided with another vehicle near Bhojka village, 30km from Jaisalmer on Wednesday.


Two of the injured have been referred further, while one is being treated at Jaisalmer. Two of the deceased were in hotel business in Salumber in Udaipur, while one was an engineer at Pokhran lift canal project.

Three persons died on the spot, while one died on the way to Jaisalmer and another died while undergoing treatment in Jodhpur . Lathi police reached the spot on getting information. SHO Nemaram along with police force started the rescue operation and sent the injured to Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.

He said that the hoteliers from Udaipur were coming to Jaisalmer in a car, in which three persons including a woman, were there. On Wednesday, their car collided with a bolero.

According to eyewitnesses, the car was overtaking a bus when the tyre burst and losing control, it collided with a bolero coming from opposite direction. Three persons died on the spot including hotelier Mahendra Singh Tanwar and engineer Rajesh Rao, resident of Gajipur in Uttar Pradesh, working at lift canal project and driver Laluram Meghwal, resident of Badora village.
