Deer found dead at college in Hyderabad, student calls it 'clear case of poaching'

The carcass of a deer was found at the University of Hyderabad in the month of March. Security guards found the carcass at the Shooting Range of the university which is run by Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS).

The authorities were suspecting that the deer had been shot dead as it had a round, hole-like injury on its body. According to a student, the carcass bore two injury marks and the incident was a "clear case of poaching".

The Forest Department officials went to the college after they were informed about the incident and sent the carcass for post-mortem. The post-mortem report suggested that the deer might have died due to shock during a dog attack.

Forest Range Officer, Chilkur, A Chiranjeevi said that the deer panicked after it was attacked by dogs and tried to flee. Chiranjeevi added that when the deer tried to escape, it got stuck in a fence. He said that the wounds on the carcass suggest that the deer had been attacked by a dog.
