Flood Situation Worsens in Bihar, More Than 56 Lakh People Affected



Patna : In Bihar, the flood situation has worsened as new areas have been submerged as water of rivers rised. More than 56 lakh people have been affected by floods in 14 districts of the state, out of which 4,18,490 people have so far been evacuated to safer places.

According to information received from the Disaster Management Department on Monday, 56,53,704 people are suffering of floods in 14 districts of Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Supaul, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, East Champaran, West Champaran, Khagadia, Saran, Samastipur, Siwan and Madhubani. Of these, 4,18,490 people have been sent to safer places. 17,554 people have taken shelter in 19 relief camps. 1,358 community kitchens have been arranged to provide food to the displaced people due to floods.

The maximum number of 18,61,960 people in Darbhanga district of the state has been affected by the floods. A total of 31 teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed for rescue and relief operations in these flood affected districts of Bihar. The reason of floods in these districts of Bihar are the rising water in Adhwara Group River, Lakhandei, Rato, Marha, Manusmara, Bagmati, Adhavara Group, Kamla Balan, Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Kadane, Noon, Via, Sikarhana, Lalbekiya, Tilave, Dhanauti, Masan, Koshi , Ganga, Kamla Balan, Kareh and Dhoons river.

It is noteworthy that a total of 13 people have died due to floods in Bihar, out of which maximum seven have been killed in Darbhanga district, four in West Champaran, two in Muzaffarpur.

At the same time, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the government is completely ready on the corona infection and floods. Necessary arrangements are being made for these two. There is no day when we do not talk to the districts and the officials of the concerned department. Everyday information is taken and action is being taken.
