Floods wreck havoc in Assam and Bihar, kills 134 so far




Dhemaji, Baksa and Morigaon districts of Assam remained submerged on Wednesday.  However, the flood waters have reduced in most parts of the state.  This information has been given in an official bulletin.  According to the flood bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 14,205 people are currently affected by the floods in these three districts while the crop has been damaged on 7,009 hectares of agricultural land.  According to the bulletin, Dhemaji is the worst affected district where 12,908 people are affected.


 After this, a thousand people are affected in Boxa and 297 people are affected in Morigaon. The number of people who lost their lives in floods and landslides this year is 136.  Of these, 110 people died due to flood-related incidents and 26 died due to landslides.

 At the same time, 7718788 people of 16 districts have been affected by the floods in Bihar.  According to information received from the Disaster Management Department on Wednesday, 127 blocks of 16 districts of Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Supaul, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, East Champaran, West Champaran, Khagaria, Saran, Samastipur, Siwan, Madhubani, Madhepura and Saharsa districts.  7718788 people of 1271 panchayats are affected by the floods.

 Out of 547664 people evacuated from there, 12479 people have taken shelter in 7 relief camps.

To provide food to the displaced people due to the flood, 1121 communal kitchens have been arranged where 890614 people have been served food.  In Darbhanga district, 2058100 people of 227 panchayats of the highest 15 blocks have been affected by the floods.  A total of 33 teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations in these flood affected districts of Bihar.  The reason for the flood in these districts of Bihar is Adhwara Group River, Lakhandei, Rato, Marha, Manusmara, Bagmati, Adhwara Group, Kamla Balan, Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Kadane, Noon, Via, Sikarhana, Lalbekiya, Tilave, Dhanauti, Masan, Koshi  , Ganga, Kamla Balan, Kareh and Dhoons river water level has to increase.
