Fog, mist affect traffic; Sriganganagar shivers

Jaipur: For the first time this season, many places in the state witnessed early morning fog , which affected road, rail and air traffic. Sriganganagar remained coldest at 11.9°C, the Met report said.

Attributing the fog and mist to the active upper air cyclonic circulation, weathermen said similar conditions would prevail in the state for the next 24 hours.

People in Jaipur woke up to a foggy and chilly morning as a minimum temperature of 18.8 °C was recorded. It was followed by a cloudy afternoon as a maximum temperature of 30.4 °C was recorded.

Due to early morning fog, a few trains arrived late at the Jaipur railway station in the morning, while a few flights to Delhi took off late. Likewise, the traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Delhi via Behror and Jaipur to Churu via Sikar was chaotic due to poor visibility during early morning hours. This was for the first time that fog and mist were witnessed in some parts of the state especially at Churu, Sriganganagar, Alwar and Bikaner districts of the state.

“Except for some districts including Churu, Sriganganagar and Bikaner, majority of the places are yet to witness shivering cold conditions,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office. Sriganganagar was followed by Churu where a minimum temperature of 13.0°C was recorded, Bikaner recorded 13.4°C, Jaisalmer 13.6°C, Udaipur 17.4°C, Kota 17.6°C, Barmer 18.3°C and in Jodhpur a minimum temperature of 18.4°C was recorded.

In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said that cloudy conditions will prevail in the state for the next couple of days.
