For Goans, it was a quiet Eid in these tough times

Most families in Goa had a muted Eid as mosques were shut and people said their prayers at home. Nauman Shaikh from Panaji marked the festival by having lunch with family members . He did not go go out to meet friends in the evening. Similarly, Rameez Shaik, from Panaji missed eidi and the fact that no one came over and neither could his family go out to meet relatives.

“My mother would prepare a lot of food especially kheer and biryani for friends. This year we cooked limited dishes.”
Amreen from Mapusa said, “Ramzan in the lockdown has brought my family closer. We woke up early to say our prayers, after which we spent time talking. Cricketer Sahdab Jakati has been spending quality time with his family. “People all around the world are suffering due to the pandemic. Inshallah all goes well,” he said.
Imran Khan from Vasco said that he now video calls his family. “This year Eid was celebrated virtually. On the video call we added some of our extended family too so it was as if we were eating our meals together, though we were miles apart.” Nauman shares that they video called family members before sitting down to eat.
