Four traders booked for not accepting coins in Jhalawar

Kota: Four traders of Bakani town in Jhalawar district were booked under sections of IPC on Thursday for not accepting coins at their respective business establishments. Bakani station police has initiated investigation into the matter. No action has been taken against the accused so far. “The four traders have been identified as Hemraj Gandhi, Kailesh Gupta, Sumit Jain and Ramvilas Ghatiya.

They were booked as per the court’s orders under sections 489 A, 489 B, 489 C, 489 D and Section 6 of The Small Coins (Offences) Act, 1971,” Bakani SHO Balveer Singh said.

The complainant, Altaf Hussain (32) of Bakani town, runs a small shop in the town. He alleged that the four traders refused to accept the coins of Indian currency whenever he went to their respective business establishments to purchase merchandise for his shop, the SHO said. Hussain further stated that he sells common commodities in his shop so he mostly receives coins from the customers. In May, I took the same coins to purchase various items for my shop but the wholesale traders refused to accept them, he added. Hussain alleged that he went to the police station but the cops refused to register the case. He filed a petition in the court.

We have booked the four traders under relevant sections on the court’s order received on Thursday. Further investigation into the matter is underway, the SHO said.
