Fourth edition of HCL Zero Mile Marathon in Nagpur on November 17

NAGPUR: The fourth edition of HCL Zero Mile Marathon will be held here at the Nagpur University ground on November 17.


The annual meet will be organized to promote health and fitness and also for the noble cause of to educate the girl child, said organizers Nishikant Kashikar and Shahina Lalani while addressing a press conference here on Saturday.



They said the event will be held in four categories -- 21-km half marathon (for above 16 years), 10-km endurance run (for above 16 years), 5-km dream run (for above 12 years) and 3-km fun run/walk (for above 10 years).

"The total prize money will be Rs 3 lakh. Cash prizes will be given to the first three finishers in each category. More than 3,000 athletes are expected to participate in the event which will be organized in association with the technical support of Nagpur District Athletics Association," said Kashikar.

He further said that Vaibhav Andhare, the first Nagpurian to complete Comrades race in Durban for two years and Berlin Marathon held recently, will be the brand ambassador of this event. Apart from him, Amit Thatte, who has also completed Comrades race in Durban and Berlin this year, is also supporting the event.

Shahina said timing chip will be given to the runners registered in the 21-km and 10-km categories. The bib collection expo, workshop and exhibition will be held on November 16 from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm at the venue. All the finishers will get a medal, e-certificate and refreshment.

The registration for the event has already started online at 0milemarathon.com and offline registration forms are available at Ruchira Villa, Bharat Nagar, Amravati Road.

The event is supported by Orange City Runners Society, Miles and Millers, Rotary Club of Nagpur Downtown, Rajnandgaon Runners Group, Raipur Runners, Shivaji Park Runners Group Mumbai and Katol Marathon.

Vaibhav Andhare, Sandip Deshpande of Rotary Club, Abhijit Deshpande and Nadiva Damani were present at the press conference.
