Fret as pest, rain wreak rabi crop: Farmers

 

Jeypore: Farmers in Jeypore sub-division of Koraput region are a stressed parcel. A large number of ranchers endured loss of rabi paddy as bugs like stem borers harmed crops in sections of land, a report said.

Ranchers asserted that however they had applied pesticides, it was not powerful in containing the illness.

“Unseasonal downpours and hailstorms helped the nuisance spread quick on sections of land of rabi crops,” they regretted.

Conquering all chances, ranchers, in any case, figured out how to collect whatever paddy was saved by the nuisance. “We had supplied the gathered paddy in the yards. Again rains lashed the territory dousing the whole paddy lying in the open,” a few ranchers mourned.

Paddy was harmed by bothers across a large number of sections of land in Digapur, Phampuni, Kaliagan, Dangar Paunsi, Tankua, Dangarchhi, Anta, Jamunda, Kanga and Hadia panchayats under this sub-division.

“The unseasonal downpour and vermin assault has broken our financial spine during this season of COVID-19 emergency,” a few ranchers deplored. In the interim, the area organization has propelled mandis for acquirement of rabi paddy at 63 places in the locale.
