Gangster facing mulitple cases nabbed from Bathinda village

Bathinda: Bathinda police have arrested gangster Gurlal Singh alias Lali Sidhana, who is facing seven criminal cases including two cases of murder. Declared proclaimed offender in three cases, Lali is a category B gangster. Police arrested him on Thursday night from Lehra Dhurkot village and recovered four weapons from his possession.



Lali (41) is also accused of demanding ransom while being lodged in jail in 2016. He later had got bail as the police had failed to file the chargesheet in the stipulated period in one of the cases in early 2017. Since then was on the run.

As per information, Lali was accused of murdering his relative on March 15, 2014. Later he was accused in another case of murder committed in Tapa police station area in Barnala on September 12, 2016. In both these cases he was declared a proclaimed offender (PO). Apart from these two murder cases, Lali had been declared a PO in another case under the Arms Act registered against him at Joga police station in Mansa on August 26, 2017.

Talking to mediapersons on Friday, Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh said, “On Thursday night we got information that Lali has been seen in Lehra Dhurkot. A police party was sent to the area which succeeded in arresting him from the village. Police then recovered one countrymade 9 mm pistol with 12 bullets and one .32 bore revolver with 17 bullets. During initial investigations the police recovered another countrymade .32 bore pistol with six bullets and a .12 bore gun with 22 cartridges from his hideout. Apart from the weapons and cartridges, the police also recovered 16 cartridges of .315 bore rifle and 22 bullets of .455 bore revolver.”

The SSP said police would investigate about the ransom call he was said to have made from the jail and why the police had failed in filing the chargesheet on time in the court when Lali was arrested that led to his getting bail and subsequently committing other crimes.
