Girl abused for riding on bike with boy of another faith

Hyderabad: Two cab drivers were arrested for stalking and abusing a woman for pillion riding with a classmate belonging to another faith. The accused — Mohammed Sohail and Mohammed Rahmat Ahmed, both cab drivers from Yakutpura — were sent to judicial remand on Sunday. The victims are students of ITI Mallepally. After completion of classes on September 26, the woman, a resident of Shadnagar, asked her friend to drop her at Afzulgunj bus station.

When they reached Haca Bhavan, Sohail who was passing by on a two-wheeler, saw that the pillion rider was a woman of another faith. “Sohail called his friend, Rahmat, who was in Koti, and told him about what he saw. Sohail continued to stalk the students and met Rahmat near Koti. They intercepted the students near Sagar Plaza and attacked the boy,” said taskforce inspector S Srinivas Rao.

The duo abused the boy and his batchmate using filthy language referring to their religions. “They abused me for riding on a bike with a girl belonging to another religion. They abused my batchmate for pillion riding on my bike. Scared, she got off the bike and walked away. The duo then assaulted me. They hit me on the thigh with a brick before escaping,” the boy alleged in the police complaint.

Police said that after assaulting the boy, the duo intercepted the girl and Rahmat forced her to pillion ride on his bike. “After riding with the girl for about an hour, the accused dropped her near CBS and left,” said a police official. Taskforce police picked up the duo on Sunday and handed them over to Abids police. The duo was booked under sections 341, 504, 509, 153a, 324 r/w 34 IPC and sent them to judicial remand.
