Goa will host National Games, dates likely on Monday or Tuesday, says Goa CM Sawant

Porvorim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday assured legislators that the 36th National Games will be held in Goa later this year and that dates for the Games would be finalized early next week.

“The National Games will take place in Goa. The dates will be finalised by Monday or Tuesday,” said Sawant while speaking in the House during the ongoing monsoon session.



The state government has told the IOA that they are ready to host the Games in November. The Games were scheduled to be held in March-April but the government expressed its inability, citing security and volunteer related issues during the elections as reasons for postponement.

There is also concern that mixed voices are emerging from the government over the fine imposed by IOA with Sawant and sports minister Manohar Ajgaonkar differing.
