Greater Noida: Cop who went viral for helping stranded Chinese tourist caught smuggling liquor

Greater Noida: Raising questions on the integrity of the lawmakers, a shocking incident came to light after two police officials were booked for being involved in liquor smuggling. The two sub-inspectors were deployed at the Kasna police station. The two accused had allegedly given a consignment of 2,700 bottles to two smugglers. 

One of the accused was identified as the sub-inspector who had reunited a Chinese tourist with his family. The incident came to light after a warehouse was raided in Sector Chi 4.

In the raid, the police confiscated 2,700 English and Indian liquor bottles. The bottles were meant for sale in Haryana. One of the accused was arrested but the other escaped from the spot. The accused told the police that he had been helped by police personnel. 

The two sub-inspectors were identified as Komal Kuntal and Vikas Kumar. While Kuntal had dealt with the finances, the liquor was handed over by Vikas. The liquor had allegedly been confiscated from a truck around four months ago. 

The SHO told the Times of India that the liquor had been seized from a truck. The liquor was being transported under a sack of potatoes. The liquor had been unloaded in the warehouse of the accused. However, the police managed to seize the liquor before it could be sold again. 

One of the accused, Kuntal had recently made national news after he had helped a stranded Chinese tourist. Even after not being able to understand what the tourist was saying, Kuntal had offered a helping a hand the tourist. Kuntal had called up his friend who knew Chinese to understand what the aggrieved was saying. 

This incident came as a shock to the police department after Kuntal's involvement was revealed. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
