Greater Noida: Two damage ATM and flee with cash, detained
GREATER NOIDA: Two men allegedly damaged an Axis Bank ATM in Surajpur with bricks to steal cash on Thursday. One of them was detained after a chase by police and the second was held later the same day. No FIR has been filed.
The two youths were spotted attacking the machine in the ATM booth with bricks around 5am by a passerby, who alerted police.
The ATM is around 100m from Surajpur police chowki. Realising they had been noticed, the youths grabbed some cash and tried to escape on a bike.
“A police team was sent immediately, that spotted the youths fleeing. Cops caught hold of the pillion rider, while the other person managed to escape,” CO 1 Tanu Upadhyay said.
The man was detained and questioned and he led them to his accomplice in the evening. “The man revealed they were staying with a relative in Surajpur. We raidedthe relative’s house and held the second man with Rs 9,000,” she said.
