Gujarat: Close shave for GSRTC passengers as bus gets submerged at Gondal underpass in Rajkot district

RAJKOT: The passengers of state run Gujarat State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus had a close shave with death on Thursday when the bus was submerged in water of the underpass because of heavy rain . However nobody was hurt in this incident and all the passengers were rescued by the locals.

According to the weather department 100mm rainfall has been received in Gondal in the last two days and the rain still continues. A bus of Gondal Pavagadh route was stuck in Umvada underpass as water level was suddenly increased because of heavy rain. There were over 20 passengers travelling in the bus were stuck. However the locals in no time came to help and rescued all the passengers safely. Some of the passengers also climbed on the roof of the bus to save their lives.

The water is not receding because of continuous rainfall, an ambulance was also stuck in the water at noon fortunately there was no casualty reported.

The heavy rainfall continues in the parts of Saurasthra since Wednesday including in Rajkot, Gir Somnath , Junagadh , Amreli , Bhavnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts. According to the weather department the rain is expected to continue till Sunday.
