Gujarat cop in anti-corruption bureau net booked under disproportionate assets case

Rajkot: The cop who has already been arrested for accepting Rs 8,000 bribe was booked on Saturday in a disproportionate assets (DA) case in Jetpur of Rajkot district.

According to a press release issued by Rajkot anti-corruption bureau (ACB), the accused, identified as Vishal Sonara, an armed police constable with Jetpur city police station, was caught accepting Rs 8,000 bribe allegedly on behalf of deputy superintendent of police J M Bharwad on August 4.

“At the time of the arrest, we found Rs 3.73 lakh kept in Sonara’s car, about which Sonara said he had kept it for his mother’s hospitalization. However, our investigation revealed that the information was false. As Sonara could not explain the source of the amount, we have booked him under DA case,” said an official from Rajkot ACB.
