Gujarat: Two Vadodara teams shine at World Robotics Contest in China

VADODARA: Two teams from Vadodara in Gujarat have made the country proud by reserving themselves in the top ranking list of the World Adolescent Robotics Contest ( WARC ) at Chongqing , China recently.


A team of two students–Aabir Sarkar and Rishiraj Behki–bagged gold medal in the junior high category of the age group 13 to 15 years.



Another team of three students-Hriday Parikh, Shreyans Bohora and Aadil Sengupta–bagged silver medal.

WARC follows official competition format of World Robot Olympiad (WRO). WRO competition is divided into many different categories as per the students age group. Every year, the WRO task is announced in the mid of January. This year's task was based on the theme of smart city. Teams were solving different challenges based on the smart city theme.

The China Adolescent Robotics Contest (CARC) and WARC are jointly organised by Children & Youth Science Center and China Association for Science and Technology with the aim on encouraging young talents to pursue science careers and foster future scientists and engineers.

The competition is aimed at nurturing children’s interests and curiosity in science and technology and also at promoting public science literacy and establishing cooperation and partnership in science education and popularization.

This year, it was 19th anniversary of the competition in which 525 teams and 1,485 young students took part in various competitions focusing on robotics design and engineering.
