Guwahati in Cyclone Amphan's line of impact, warning issued

GUWAHATI: The administration in Assam’s Kamrup (metro) district that encompasses Guwahati, has issued Amphan warning for the city on Wednesday evening as the super cyclone is moving north-northeastwards.

The chief executive officer of the disaster management authority of the district said that information has been received from the Indian Meteorological Department that the Cyclone 'Amphan' may hit Kamrup metropolitan district at any moment from now.

“There is a strong likelihood of a widespread effect of Cyclone. Hence, all the Head of line departments may keep their officials and equipment ready to tackle any situation that may arise during and after the Cyclone,” the warning says.

“People of the District are also requested to keep themselves ready to face the Cyclone and to be careful in dealing with the situation. All emergency requirements may be checked immediately and may arrange accordingly,” it added.
