Haridwar SSP given a week to decide on Pranav Singh Champion's security

NAINITAL: While hearing a petition filed by expelled BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ regarding removal of his Y category security cover, Uttarakhand high court directed the controversial leader to present his case before Haridwar’s senior superintendent of police ( SSP ).

“The court said that after Champion gives a presentation to Haridwar SSP explaining why he needs Y category security cover, it is upon the official to decide on his case.

A week’s time has been given for the same,” Lalit Sharma, the lawyer representing Central government in the case, told TOI.

Earlier this month, the Central government had removed Champion’s Y category security cover after a review of threat perception by the Union home ministry following which the Khanpur legislator approached Uttarakhand high court with a petition against the move.

Prior to that, Champion, infamous for his controversies, was expelled from the BJP after a video of the legislator brandishing guns and dancing at a house party became viral on social media.
