Haryana: 12 injured as cylinder catches fire after gas leakage in Yamunanagar

YAMUNANAGAR (HARYANA): A gas cylinder at an aluminum products unit in Yamunanagar industrial area of Haryana caught fire due to leakage, seriously injuring 12 workers, on Monday morning.



The injured were rushed to a private hospital in Yamunanagar from where eight of them were referred to PGI Chandigarh, while four are undergoing treatment in Yamunanagar.



Those referred to PGI have been identified as Satyavir Singh, Vinay Mishra, Mohan, Sumer Chand, Kamal, Harshit, Sachin and Sompal and those undergoing treatment in Yamunanagar are SS Pundir (general manager of the unit), Anil Kumar, Vikas and Sandeep Kumar.

Following the incident, the firefighters, emergency services and police reached the spot for inspection and carried rescue operation.

Sources said around six fire brigades were deployed which doused the flames in nearly two hours.

“Our industrial fire safety team is investigating the incident and a report will be obtained and further proceedings will be conducted accordingly," Yamunanagar deputy commissioner Mukul Kumar said.
