Haryana elections: Booths turn pink to promote women power

AMBALA: The administration arranged Sakhi polling stations to promote the concept of women empowerment where the entire voting process was managed by women polling officers, including police personnel.


Poonam Dhiman, a sector officer in Ambala City, said: "The idea has been conceptualised for women empowerment as the voting process is entirely managed by the female staff. This is done to see if women can handle the process of conducting elections or not."

Ambala district election officer Ashok Kumar Sharma said a total of 45 Sakhi polling stations were established in the entire district.

In panchkula too, the administration arranged Sakhi polling stations to promote the concept of women empowerment where the entire voting process was managed by women polling officers, including police personnel. Two such polling booths were set up in Panchkula district.
