Haryana: Gujarat's wanted criminal arrested in Panipat

CHANDIGARH: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Haryana Police has arrested Gujarat’s wanted criminal Ali Mohammad carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh from Panipat district.


A police department spokesman said on Tuesday that cops also recovered a country-made 315 bore pistol and a live cartridge from his possession.



Ali Mohammad, a native of district Banka in Bihar, presently residing in Hari Singh Colony at Panipat, was a key accused in the murder case of cotton waste trader Sachin Dhawan of Gujarat's Gandhidham district on August 1, 2016. Gujarat police had declared him a proclaimed offender in this case.

Gandhidham Traders Association in Gujarat had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for any information leading to his arrest. At least four cases pertaining to murder, loot and other crimes were unearthed with his arrest.

Divulging the details, he said that a team of CIA during patrolling got a tip-off that a wanted criminal carrying illegal weapon was roaming outside his house in Hari Singh colony. Acting swiftly, police team immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused along with illegal weapon.

Upon interrogation, the accused disclosed his identity and confessed to his involvement along with his aide in the killing of trader Sachin Dhawan. He was absconding after committing the crime. He was produced before the court, which sent him to seven-day police remand.
