Haryana: Missing youth found dead in Yamunanagar, murder case registered

YAMUNANAGAR: Police on Tuesday recovered a mutilated body of a missing youth from near the Phase-II Industrial Area in Manakpur village in Yamunanagar district.


The deceased has been identified Vaibhav Chauhan (19) of Jagadhri city, who was a photographer by profession.

As per the information, Vaibhav had left home for an event at Manakpur village on Sunday but he did not return home.



His grandfather Baldev Singh of Rajputana Gali, Jagadhri said, "He had left home saying he will be back in two hours after covering an event at Manakpur village on Sunday. When he did not return even after several hours, we called on his cellphone but it was switched off. We kept looking for him till Monday morning. We also put a post on social media mentioning his details and our phone numbers. Lastly, we lodged a missing complaint at Jagadhri city police station on Monday."

Meanwhile, a milkman of Manakpur village, who had seen the post on Vaibhav, spotted his bike on a secluded road in the industrial area and contacted the family.

The family intimated the police on Tuesday and reached the spot and identified that it was Vaibhav, who was lying dead in the bushes. His face was severely damaged and right hand was missing.

Jagadhri city SHO inspector Sukhbir Singh said, “We had registered a missing case under Section 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Monday and started the search for the missing youth. On Tuesday, we received the information about Vaibhav's whereabouts that his dead body was found lying in a secluded area in the industrial area of Manakpur village.”

“The family reached the spot for identification and they identified deceased as Vaibhav. The family alleged that he has been murdered by some unknown person, therefore, we have converted the missing case into a murder cases and added Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC to already registered FIR. The investigation has been initiated from the angle of murder,” added SHO Sukhbir.
