Haryana: Toddler killed as roof of house collapses in Yamunanagar district

YAMUNANAGAR: In a shocking incident, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was buried under the debris when the roof of her house collapsed at Naharpur village in Yamunanagar district of Haryana on Saturday evening.

According to information, the roof collapsed when Saddam along with his wife Praveen, son Anas (4) and daughter Sidhra (2.5) were sitting in their house.

Suddenly the roof collapsed and they got buried under the debris.

Sidhra died on the spot while Saddam, Praveen and Anas sustained injuries. They were rushed to a hospital. The roof of one room set house of Saddam was kachchi (mud roof).

Although, there was no rain when the incident took place, Saddam said that the roof of his house had become weak due to rain occurred recently.

Parvej Alam, panch from Naharpur village said, "Saddam works at a shop and is a poor man who earns very less. The family had a single room house, which has collapsed."

The village falls under Jathlana police station limits of Yamunanagar district. Sub-inspector Balraj Singh said: "We have not received any written information regarding such incident but as of my knowledge a girl had died under the debris of roof in Naharpur village. The family might have cremated the girl without informing the police.”

Radaur sub-divisional magistrate Kanwar Singh said, "The incident has come to my notice and I have asked the area tehsildar to submit a report in the regard. The case will be recommended for the chief minister's relief fund to the district deputy commissioner."
