Health dept warriors hit by virus

Jaipur: The health department, which is leading the fight against Covid, is in the grip of the virus. At least six staff of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme spearheading the battle and as many as 13 officials of health directorate were found infected on Tuesday. Earlier, seven were found infected in past two days.

So far, 20 staff of the health directorate have tested positive.

There’s considerable panic among health department officials as a lot of doctors and staff are voluntarily going to get themselves tested for Covid.

The staff are now under confusion whether to go to office or stay back home or be shifted to other places.

In Jaipur, in addition to the 13 staff from health directorate, 98 persons were found infected with Covid on Tuesday. Across the state, 1,124 persons tested positive taking the tally to 46,679. Besides, 13 persons died of the virus which took the cumulative toll to 732. Active cases have touched a new high of 13,115.

Tuesday’s casualties included three in Ajmer, which took its toll to 53, two each in Alwar and Sikar, Karauli (1), Bharatpur (1), Churu (1), Dholpur (1) and two from other states.

Districts which reported new cases are Alwar (154), Kota (146), Bhilwara (99), Jaipur (98), Bikaner (80), Pali (72), Dholpur (63), Ajmer (57), Jodhpur (52), Bharatpur (50), Baran (40), Barmer (37), Udaipur (32), Dungarpur (24), Jhalawar (20), Tonk (18), Karauli (13), Chittorgarh (13), Sikar (12), Churu (12), Dausa (8), Bundi (8), Hanumangarh (7), Jaisalmer (3), Banswara (3), Sirohi (1), Sriganganagar (1) and one from other state.
