Heat is on: Ahmedabad may record 42°C today

AHMEDABAD: After a lull due to upper air cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan in past few days, the city on Tuesday recorded 41.9°C. The temperature could touch or go beyond 42° on Wednesday onwards, Met department officials said.

Kandla was the hottest place in Gujarat on Tuesday which recorded 43.1°C followed by Gandhinagar (42.6°C), Amreli (42.5°C), Surendranagar (42.3°C) and Surat (42°C).



Ahmdabad’s maximum temperature was 0.2 degrees and minimum temperature was 0.9 degrees higher than the average, mentioned India Meteorological Department (IMD) website. Citizens found the heat intense due to high relative humidity (RH) - 61% at 8.30am and 18% at 5.30pm. For next two to three days, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42°C , added the website.

While forecast for the state mentioned light rain and thundershower may occur in Banaskantha, heat wave warning was issued for Surat and Valsad where moderate temperature rise can affect infants, elderly and people with chronic diseases. The heat wave warning would be in place on Wednesday as well, said Met department officials.
