Hi-tech vehicle at Indore airport to take safety up a few notches

INDORE: Taking a step forward to enhance passenger safety, Indore airport has got a mobile command post vehicle that can be used by rescue team during emergency situations or accident.


In the state, Indore and Bhopal airports have received one mobile command post vehicle each.

Indore airport director Aryama Sanyal said, "These are sophisticated and self-sustained vehicles equipped with all possible advanced facilities required for passenger safety during any accident or major incident at airport."


Mobile command post vehicles that are fitted with modern and advanced technology to carry our emergency operations have already arrived for Indore and Bhopal, Sanyal said.

These vehicles have GPS, satellite phones, conferencing facility, all emergency operation equipment, portable signboards, shelter tent, binocular, first aid box and smart board along with other emergency related infrastructure.

Special training will be imparted to operational officers to use the mobile command post vehicle. Sanyal said, "Every airport is equipped with handling crisis situations and have a designated team. But as this is highly sophisticated, special training will be imparted to officers by the company." Trainings to officers for Indore airport is likely to get completed in a month, airport director said.

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has purchased 32 mobile command post vehicles at a cost of Rs 14.06 crore for as many airports including Indore and Bhopal. In western region, airports that have received mobile command post vehicle include Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Rajkot and Vadodara.
