Highway thieves puncture four vehicles, loot travellers of cash in Jhabua

Indore: Over a dozen unidentified people looted four vehicles , including two intercity buses, by placing sharp objects on road to puncture their tyres in Meghnagar of Jhabua late on Monday.

The incident took place on Indore-Ahmedabad highway near Sajeli Fatak. The first victim was a traveller in a sedan.

The accused pelted stones at his vehicles and looted four bags from him and Rs 12,000 cash. After this, an intercity bus on its way from Indore to Surat was stopped and the driver and passengers were looted.

They, however, did not approach police officials as passengers asked the driver to leave the spot immediately.

The accused then looted an intercity bus on its way from Indore to Ahmedabad and looted Rs 15,000 from the driver Vinod and Rs 6,000 from an Indore resident Neha Prajapat. The accused also made away with his expensive laptop and mangalsutra.

The looters also made away with Rs 10,000 from another truck driver Zuber Khan, who was travelling from Badnawar to Kandala.

Meghnagar police said that a case was registered and they were looking for the accused.

“Teams have been put to task and arrests will be made at the earliest in the case,” SP Vineet Jain told TOI. TNN
