Himachal Pradesh CM launches online land registration platform

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday launched National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) on a pilot basis in Shimla (Urban) and Kumarsain tehsil of Shimla district in first instance for online registration of land records.

Jai Ram Thakur said that this would facilitate speedy registration in the state besides facilitating online valuation and payment. He said that after successful implementation of this pilot project it would be rolled out throughout the state.

He said that the citizens would be facilitated to make request for online registration, stamp duty calculation and email enabled alerts for the users. This would ensure check on any tempering with revenue records. The system would also help in effective maintenance of revenue records for the benefit of the land owners.

He said that system would also go a long way in effective dealing with land related issues and lessen the unnecessary litigation in revenue related matters. The NGDRS would also help in avoiding duplicate usages of stamp paper.

The copy of registered document would be stored using scanning technology and the downloaded document could be viewed by generating certified copy by authorized users, he added.

He said that the land owners and buyers could make payment of stamp duty and registration fee through online mode. Himachal Pradesh has become the 7th state of country to have implemented this project. This was a step forward in visualizing the dream of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘One Nation One Software’.

He also handed over the first computerised land registry to the land owners Rakesh Kumar and Meena.

Secretary of Electronics and Information Technology, government of India Ajay Prakash Sawhney while addressing the meeting through video conferencing from New Delhi said that NGDRS was an uniform software being used throughout the country for benefit of the users. Facility of Digilock has also been provided so that consumers could digilock their important documents.
