Himachal Pradesh: Five killed as car falls into gorge in Mandi

MANALI: Five people were killed and one other sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in rolled down into a 300-metre gorge in Himachal Pradesh 's Mandi district on Sunday.


The incident occurred about 12pm near Bagchanogi in Thunag tehsi.

The fatal accident came just two days after a similar incident in the Padhar region.

According to the police, the car fell into a steep gorge, killing five of its passengers on spot. A person, identified as Khem Chand, who was driving the car, sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Kumber Singh (43), Prem Raj (30), Roshan Lal (38), Chirnjivi Lal (36) and Krishan Chand (43), all residents of Mandi.

Mandi superintendent of police Gurdev Chand Sharma said a police team had reached the spot and cause of the accident is being ascertained.
