Commentary
  • That is it from this nail biting game of cricket. We saw almost 800-runs being scored but in the end it was England who held their nerves and won the game. We head to St. Lucia for the final match of the series. Hope you enjoyed the coverage of this game. Join us for the final ODI on Saturday. That match begins at 1100 local (0300 GMT). Till then, Cheers!
  • England skipper, Eoin Morgan, says it was a one hell of a game of cricket and he hopes everyone enjoyed it. Says Adil Rashid got them back in the game and adds that they were in the back foot till the last 15 overs. States that Bairstow and Hales set it up for them in batting. Adds that Buttler is built like a champion and when he gets going it is tough to stop him. Admits Gayle almost took the game away from them and they needed something special with the ball and Adil Rashid provided it. Explains Adil is a strong asset and he is willing to bowl anywhere when required. He got nice rhythm after bowling short to Gayle. States that it was a 50-50 game and could have gone anywhere, and he feels Adil Rashid won them the game with the ball.
  • Man of the match - Jos Buttler says it was an incredible game of cricket and admits they were put under pressure by Windies and Gayle. Says it is a fantastic to get the record and says that he had decided to have a left hand right hand combination. States it has been tough for the bowlers and as batters they just wanted to make most of it. Explains that we don't try and necessarily go for only boundaries but the boys try different things. Says that the next game in St. Lucia will be a great one and he wants to win the close fought series.
  • Windies skipper, Jason Holder says it was a great effort from his team and credits Chris Gayle for his innings. Says both teams made it look difficult to bowl here and both sides batted well. States Morgan and Buttler batted really well and they (Windies) just had to go for it. Explains it was a case where they knew what they needed to and it was just a matter of them to be fearless and play their natural game. On being asked how high is Chris Gayle amongst the greatest Windies player, Jason Holder states that he is right at the top of Windies cricket and getting 10,000 runs in any form of cricket is not an easy task. Adds that he is looking for the final ODI and states that he is looking to level the series.
  • Earlier in the day, England posted 418 courtesy a 77-ball 150 from Jos Buttler and 88-ball 103 from skipper Eoin Morgan.
  • As for the bowlers, everyone except Mark Wood and Liam Plunkett were being hammered. Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid were the stars with the ball picking up 4 and 5 wickets respectively. Liam Plunkett went wicket-less but had an outstanding economy rate of 5.
  • It looked like Windies innings would crumble after his wicket. Jason Holder didn't last long after his wicket and it looked like the writing was in the wall but Carlos Brathwaite and Ashley Nurse joined hands and stitched together an 88-run stand. But it was not enough as Adil Rashid spun his web and got rid off both the batsmen in two consecutive balls and wrapped the next two in the next three balls.
  • The innings didn't start in the best of fashions for the Windies. They lost 2 wickets in the first 6 overs. But Christopher Henry Gayle had turned on the beast mood and made a blistering 162 off just 97 balls. The Windies hardly went below the asking rate and the Gayle storm hit Grenada hard. He hit 11 boundaries and 14 maximums in his innings. The gayle storm was blowing away the English bowlers but in the 35th over Ben Stokes got the breakthrough of the big man after being taken to the cleaners earlier.
  • What a match! Wow. It looked like Windies were on course to chase the mammoth total of 419 but 4 wickets in the 48th over from Rashid ensured this match does not even go to the 50th over.

A Rashid to O Thomas, OUT! STUMPED! That ends the game! ENGLAND WIN BY 29 RUNS AND TAKE AN UNASSAILABLE 2-1 SERIES LEAD. Second ODI fifer for Rashid. The googly, outside off, Thomas walks into the shot but is comfortably beaten by the googly. He is well outside the crease and Buttler whips off the bails in a flash. England retain their number 1 ranking in ODIs as well.
  • Oshane Thomas walks out at number 11.

A Rashid to C Brathwaite, OUT! Caught! This should be the final nail in the coffin. Rashid struts his stuff. Tossed up outside off, Brathwaite looks to slog but the ball spins away and induces a leading edge. Eoin Morgan runs a bit to his left from cover and takes it calmly. Good fight from Carlos but it was too much to do.
  • Devendra Bishoo is the new man in.

A Rashid to A Nurse, OUT! Taken this time! No usage of the life by Nurse. He departs. Floated, around middle, Ashley swings hard, rather, tries to heave but only gets a top edge. Short fine leg calls for it and Liam Plunkett takes it with ease. That ends the 88-run stand and the hosts are back in trouble. 30 more needed from 16 balls.

A Rashid to A Nurse, IN THE AIR... PUT DOWN! Spectacular effort from Ben Stokes. If there was one man in the field who could have got there, it was Stokes. But sadly, it was not to be. Full and around middle, Nurse swung this hard but the ball hit the toe end of the bat. It went flat towards long on where Ben Stokes charged in and dived but could not quite hang on. Two runs taken.
