Hotelier overpowers two knife-wielding thugs

Two auto-rickshaw drivers demand money at knifepoint; owner snatches knife, calls cops and gets them arrested

Two men who attempted to loot a hotel owner by stopping his car on Saturday morning ran out of their luck as their target managed to overpower them and handed them over to Sarkhej police.

Farhan Pathan (35) lives in Jamalpur area of the city and runs a hotel on the stretch between Sanand circle and Shantipura circle. On Saturday morning, Pathan left his hotel at 11am and headed home. When he was just 200 metres from his hotel, an auto-rickshaw driver approached him from the rear and asked him to stop.

When Pathan got out of his car the auto-rickshaw driver raised a quarrel claiming the former did not know how to drive his car. Soon, another auto-rickshaw driver arrived and wielded a knife. The two asked Pathan to part with whatever money he had on him. However, Pathan managed to snatch the knife from the man’s hand. Later, he called the cops who arrested the two from the spot.

Talking to Mirror, Pathan said, “The miscreants wielded their knife but somehow I managed to snatch it away from one of them who was a well-built person. I called up the police who arrived immediately and arrested both of them.”

The two accused have been identified as Fatehwadi residents Ishan Sanghi and Muzaffarali Saiyed. Sarkhej PI B B Goyal said, “We are checking whether the two accused have committed crimes in the past.

They have been sent for a coronavirus test and once their report comes, we will arrest them.”
