Hyderabad: Feeling stressed over low salary, private firm employee commits suicide by hanging

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, an employee of a private company committed suicide after getting stressed over his low earnings. The incident took place at KPHB colony in Hyderabad, Telangana on Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Lakshminarayana Shiva Kumar, who was a native of Tamil Nadu.

Kumar committed suicide by hanging himself with an electric pole.

As per a report in Times of India, the victim had migrated to Hyderabad from Tamil Nadu along with his family few years back.

He initially joined as a sales executive in a private company and later moved to an automobile company.

After all his family members went to sleep, Kumar silently left his home on Thursday night.

The next morning, his wife found him missing along with his bike. After some time, she got a call from local police authorities informing her about her husband's suicide.

"Kumar's family suspects that he was unable to meet their needs as he was drawing a lesser salary compared to his previous job. This could be the reason Kumar took the extreme step," said a police officer.

Police have filed a case under section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPc. Further probe is underway in the case, said police.

In a similar incident on May 27, a 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house at Vishwakarma Nagar in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The man was reportedly stressed as his wedding was indefinitely postponed due to lockdown, according to the police.

The deceased man identified as Sanjit Gupta went to his room after having dinner. At around 4 am when his father woke up to use the washroom, he found Sanjit hanging from the ceiling fan in the living room of their house.

The victim's father said that his son’s marriage was fixed with a girl from Bihar’s Aurangabad and the couple was to tie the knot on April 25. However, the wedding date was postponed due to the imposition of the nationwide lockdown in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases. The wedding date postponement affected Sanjit in an adverse manner, said his father.
