I will stay at this crease till end: Sonu Sood responds to Shikhar Dhawan's praise for helping labourers

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has become a real-life hero by helping thousands of migrant labourers reach home during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis by arranging buses for them. Sood’s wonderful gesture has been lauded on social media by several celebrities. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had also praised Sood’s efforts as the actor continues to help the less fortunate.

“A big salute to you @SonuSood for your heroic efforts in making sure stranded migrant workers get to reach their homes,” Dhawan had tweeted.

In his response, Sood said that just like how India feels home when Dhawan is at the crease, he will also remain at the crease till the time every migrant is sent back home. (Also Read: Sonu Sood’s act of kindness: Sania, Saina salute Bollywood actor for arranging buses for migrant workers)

“Thank u so much my brother. India knows when @SDhawan25 is at cease “WE ARE HOME”. I promise, I will stay at this crease till the end and make sure that every migrant will say “ WE ARE HOME “,” the actor tweeted.

Several migrant labourers have been reaching out to Sood on Twitter with their phone numbers and he has obliged all of them by arranging buses. Sood has also taken permission from the state governments to arrange the buses. After reaching their respective villages, labourers and workers from different communities have also been sharing their photographs with the Bollywood actor. Sood started the initiative on March 12 - where he, along with food and beverage entrepreneur, Neeti Goel, arranged ten buses for migrant labours who returned to their villages. Both Sood and Goel sought permission from Maharashtra as well as the Karnataka government to lead the way while the labours were leaving for their villages. The buses left from Thane, Maharashtra on Monday for Gulbarga, Karnataka. Since then, he has been on a mission to help everybody who is reaching out to him on Twitter seeking help.

Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal and Manika Batra were some of the other Indian sportspersons who had earlier hailed Sood for his initiative. The country is currently undergoing Lockdown 4 - where several restrictions imposed earlier have been lifted by the government. However, the number of patients being tested positive for the deadly virus in India continues to witness a big spike on a daily basis.
