IAS Saurabh Rao Taken Charge Of Pune's Divisional Commissioner

Pune: Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer On Special Duty at Pune’s Divisional Commissioner office Saurabh Rao had taken charge of new Divisional Commissioner, Pune on Friday. He has taken from the ongoing divisional Commissioner Dr. Deepak Mhaisekar.

Mhaisekar who was divisional commissioner of Pune has set to retire on July 31st from the service.

He has taken several important decision in reducing the number of Covid-19 cases in the Pune and in divisional areas.

Saurabh Rao, 2003 batch IAS officer held a important position, he served as a Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), prior to that he served in various capacities of the state government such as he was Nagpur district collector in 2014, was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Gondia Zilla Parishad. Rao has also served as collector and district magistrate in Nandurbar.

With such vast experience, Rao brings with him an immense understanding of Pune city. He has won accolades for his work in the city as district collector, during which he played an active role in the implementation of the Jalyukta Shivar scheme, which was aimed at ensuring water availability in drought-prone areas.

His other achievements include his contribution towards rescue and rehabilitation operations during a major landslide at Malin (Pune) in 2014, and his involvement in finalising the proposal for a new greenfield international airport at Purandar in Pune which has now been approved by the Ministry of Defence.
