Idukki: Three dead and three injured as jeep overturns
Idukki: Three people died and three are grievously injured when a jeep overturned at Kattadippara near Pulikkuth at Bodimettu on the Kochi - Dhanushkodi national highway. The incident occurred on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Annakkili (68), Kannan (40) and Dhanalakshmi (45) of Bodinaikkannur residents.
Three women injured and were admitted to Theni Medical College.
There were 23 plantation workers including driver Murukeshwaran (25) in the jeep. They were returning from a cardamom plantation at B L Ram near Poopara to Bodinaikkannur.
The jeep driver lost control when it reached near Kattadikavala while negotiating a hairpin curve on the narrow ghat road. The jeep overturned over 100 meters and fell down the road.
Other injured passengers in the vehicle were injured and admitted to Bodinaikkannur government hospital.

Hunderds of cardamom estate workers daily reach the cardamom plantations in the high range from Tamil Nadu villages through jeeps.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Theni Medical College for postmortem, said the police.
