IMFL, beer worth Rs 39 lakh seized; seven arrested

RAJKOT: In a major seizure, a total of 10,692 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor ( IMFL ), worth Rs 37.89 lakh, and 1,176 cans of beer, worth Rs 1.17 lakh, were impounded from a truck and seven bootleggers arrested from Gandhidham-Padana Road near Gandhidham in Kutch district on Saturday. The truck used in ferrying the liquor cache and a car piloting it were also seized.



The accused were identified as truck driver Dharyasinh Parmar (40), a resident of Bageshri Township of Varshamedi village of Anjar taluka in Kutch, Mahesh Ahir (26), a resident of Antarjal village of Gandhidham taluka, Ramesh Bishnoi (38), a resident of Bilochavala village of Pilibanga taluka in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan, Sardarsinh Rathod (34), a resident of Kasambu Upadara village of Ladalu taluka in Nagor district of Rajasthan, Mahesh Chawda (22), a resident of Varshamedi village, Jagdish Koli (26), a resident of Mansarovar Society of Bhachau in Kutch district, and Rajkumar Saini (34), a resident of Galpadar village in Gandhidham taluka.

“The accused named Shivrajsinh Shekhavat, a Galpadar village resident and a bootlegger of Gandhidham and his girlfriend Nayana Barot, a resident of Varshamedi village, as co-accused in the case. They also named one Ravindra from Haryana who had sent the supply,” said J P Jadeja, inspector of Gandhidham SOG.
