In Himachal Pradesh, safety permit to be must

SHIMLA: In the wake of Kumarhatti building collapse, which left 14 people, including 13 army personnel dead and 18 others injured, Himachal Pradesh government has decided to make safety certificate from structural engineers mandatory in the state for new constructions. In future, all the government and private constructions will have to be carried according to the guidance of structural engineers.

The state government will prepare a panel of structural engineers in the state.


CM Jai Ram Thakur said the issue of ensuring constructions according to the instructions of structural engineers will be discussed in the cabinet meeting. He said construction being made in Kumarhatti and surrounding areas is unsafe. He said in future, people will have to conduct engineering specification of building at the time of construction.
