In UP's Etah, owner of private school arrested for robbing trucks, 6 others on run

AGRA: In the morning, this private school in the heart of UP’s Etah-- just 180km from national capital Delhi-- played host to hundreds of children, and forthright teachers eager to teach them values of honesty. But, as the night fell, its premises cut a very different picture, a dreaded one indeed. It was full of robbed consignments with dreaded criminals fighting to distribute the booty equally.

Among them were the school owner and its manager.

On Friday, to the utter shock of the city residents -- especially the parents of students -- police found 148 robbed refrigerators inside the premises. The truck, containing the refrigerators, was recently robbed from highway while it was coming from Noida.

Atul Kumar Gautam, station house officer (SHO) of Pilua, said, “On the night of August 31, a truck registered with Kanpur RTO was heading toward Lucknow ferrying 148 refrigerators from Noida via Mainpuri district. As soon the truck entered Bewar, a gang of five to six men on motorcycles waylaid the truck near Nabiganj and overpowered the truck driver, Abdul Sattar. They gagged the victim and threw him behind the truck and took control over the vehicle.”

“The gang drove the truck towards Etah and threw the driver near Arthara canal. Then, they took the truck inside SGS Public School premises and unloaded the robbed consignment. Later, the gang left the truck near Mandi Samiti at GT road,” he said.

While busting the gang, Pilua Police arrested two men, including school owner Pawan Yadav and his associate Ajay Yadav. Local police claimed that six more members of the gang, including the school manager and the elder brother of accused Pawan are absconding.

He added, “The two brothers, Pawan and Sughreev, who operate the private school have been involved in scores of truck robberies. We are now collecting evidences and searching crime records. The two brothers had built the school with the money made out of robberies. Our team is now looking for the six absconders, including Sughreev.”
